A few weeks ago I had to abandon a race because of iliotibial band pain. It sucked a million times !
I already had caught this 3 years ago and I knew it was damn difficult to get rid of it permanently. It is also a super frustrating because the pain will quickly disappear and you will want to run but as soon as you do it, the pain will come back instantly.
I could see the tree plantations going up the hill in an organized chaos so descriptive of India. It smelt so good, like, if tea and spices were both perfect combinations. And then, at kilometer 50, the right knee just abandoned, leaving me bitter and sorrow.
– “So now what ?”
I will run the Paris Marathon as an Ambassador for Médecins Sans Frontières with their colors and with their message. I have one aim: Bring awareness and support them in every way I can.
Race organizer, Marcus, had led the comically understated briefing, highlights including:
“Watch your footsteps, you should not get bit by any snakes, but if you do, remember the shape and color of it, so we know which anti-venom to use. We wouldn’t want you to get the wrong one…”
Infact I was running, trying to master the pain and I would not even have a beer at the end. What the hell was wrong with me ?
